how the internet sees you.

back in august simpatico: the velocity blog featured this digital installation from aaron zinman of MIT’s media labs called personas.

it first caught my attention graphically, but its message continues to intrigue.

to quote from the site: "it is meant for the viewer to reflect upon our current and future world where digital histories are as important, if not more, than the oral histories, and the computational methods of condensing our digital traces are largely opaque and socially ignorant."

enter your name here for an image of how the internet sees you.

with all the texting and twittering going on in the world at every moment—in cars, restaurants, even during conversations—it just makes me wonder what are we really leaving behind?

thoughts welcomed.

back to work

okay i admit, fall is in full swing making me a tad sad to wish summer goodbye, but i am also grateful for our clients this coming season. seriously, trish and i are collaborating with so many truly wonderful people that i just need to share . . .

we helped brand and launch the new life coaching business y-wellness today with special thanks to gary fletcher for his nonstop brilliant programming, justin and mary marantz for their amazing photography and karen riccio for her love of language. hooray!

founded by the genius of yvette mcintire, this practice is dedicated to helping you find a holistic wellness by teaching you to go within, ask why, listen and observe. please subscribe to the site and tell us what you think. plus watch for her experiential seminars that will be coming to the shoreline this fall. she is engaging, memorable and will help you create a path to wellness. we [heart] y-wellness.

also today we released the new t-shirt design for the terri brodeur breast cancer foundation TBBCF walk taking place on october 3rd. here's a sneak peak at the design. . .

changed up the usual mess of logos on the back and made them a design element on the sleeves. then coined the phrase 'we give 100%' and branded it for the back of the shirt with the symbolic dog tags of norma logan, one of the foundation's founders. pretty powerful, right?

tbbcf is magical—it is a grass roots effort that pledges 100% of their fundraising dollars to research. since 2006, TBBCF has awarded $1.1 million to 11 breast cancer researchers. it is an honor to collaborate with all of the volunteers here. hope you can find a way to support them.

this season we are also turning our attention to help our favorite fashionistas at the white dress by the shore. those lovely ladies will be sporting a new look soon, and we can't wait to show you the reveal.

plus we are busy with some projects that are under wraps still, but i can simply say we love working with. . .

the country's best booksellers at rj julia, the über-talented and positively gracious moshe aelyon, a new eyecare and eyewear practice for the fabulous dr. maria diaz designed by interior extraordinaire robin reed, those creatively yummy talents at gourmet galley catering, and helping the ever-magical josh chalmers with his mission to 'change the the world before bedtime™'.

indeed, we are ever grateful to be at work this season.

losing henry.

that next morning dp had to leave to get back to pre-season camp. but hours earlier it was good dp was able to drive home, so together we could take his body to the vet.

i decided to change the scene a bit and take the girls to the beach for a couple of days. at least i did not have to look at his half-filled water bowl.

losing henry is not easy, but we are doing okay. eva has been very open with her feelings and i am so very grateful to a trusted friend who was there to comfort her while i tried to figure out what to do next. it was as if he planned that for us. amazing really.

and of course stelle is just the brightest little light, so we smile easily.

funny thing, henry was no doubt dp's dog, that crazy vizsla would do anything for dp. the moment dp laid eyes on henry in brooklyn 9.5 years ago, he declared, 'i am not leaving without him. i'll take full responsibility for him.' and from then on that little brown dog became his and henry knew it.

but at the end of the day i am realizing that henry was MY constant companion, more than anyone else in my life for really the last 8.5 years or so. i left my 40+ hour a week job in nyc to spend more time at our little house in the country, eventually started sd+p and then a family—all with henry at my side.

later, i could not sleep a wink—i was thinking of all the things that could have caused him to slip away so suddenly. at one point i woke up thinking that eva's leftover, room temp cup of soup i mixed with his kibble caused his demise. dp said 'you need to get a grip', but i went on to explain, as a mother, this just hits me at my core. right in the gut.

so i just keep questioning. and wondering. wondering if henry really knew how much i cared, because he was always, always so naughty.

eva's first word was a long and loud 'hhhheennnnnnrrryyy' for goodness sake.

but last night my sister reminded me of an email story that the same trusted friend [indeed, there are no coincidences] sent months earlier—A Dog's Purpose (from the wisdom of a 6-year old).

and well, that worry just subsided and in its place a big smile for all the silly, nutty things that hound was about. i know it still won't be easy, those waves will come, but for now i believe it was lucky for us to have found him, and lucky for us to have him leave so peacefully.

pass it on.

just heard through my good friend josh chalmers that toms is heading into the wedding market. what better way to honor those around you than to replace the standard flip flops for your bridesmaids and/or guests with a pair of toms? they make them in gold, silver, white and ivory—sizes for men and the wee ones too. plus they will work with you on special pricing for quantity purchases.

it is as simple as 'one for one' as they say at toms. for every pair of shoes they sell they bring a pair to a child in need. over 140,000 to be exact. their message is clear 'for everybody who has a small company or who has an idea, incorporate giving in what you do.' and we say, why not do that for weddings as well.

pretty powerful stuff. pass it on.
